Our Mission

Human beings and the built environment are intrinsically entwined.

For more than 20 years, our team has delivered outstanding, 360° engineering solutions to a range of clients, across all major property sectors, Australia-wide.

At CORE, we focus on the human element, enabling people and the built environment to flourish together – every project, every building, every day.

A Team of Experts

Our people are our greatest asset, and we pride ourselves on the quality of our team.

CORE’s success and more importantly, the success of our clients, is driven by our highly experienced, specially selected team of engineers.

With over 40 in-house experts across a multiple range of disciplines, our business is uniquely equipped to deliver end-to-end, 360° integrated solutions for our clients.

Ian Prentice
Managing Director

As Managing Director, Ian ensures CORE delivers exceptional consulting engineering services for the built environment predicated on ‘extreme ownership’ of project outcomes and outstanding client relationships.

Ian’s guiding principle and cornerstone of CORE’s strategy is to apply a proactive and flexible approach to all projects – working closely with clients to understand their evolving needs and then deliver consistent, continuous improvement, informed by the team’s experience and lessons learnt, leading the industry to higher standards along the way.

Ian Martyn

Ian brings 15 years’ experience in civil engineering spanning small residential to large construction and infrastructure projects nationally.
Ian has been instrumental in leading CORE’s expansion into multi-specialist disciplines while implementing rigorous processes, analysis and remedial diagnostic methodologies in support of achieving service excellence.

Under his leadership, the teams drive continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the business, client base and the industry.

Melvin Kumar

Melvin joined CORE in 2017 as Building Services Manager and has been responsible for growing CORE’s multi-disciplinary building services team – taking the business from an outsourced subcontractor model to a full inhouse capability of specialist consultants.

An empathetic and strategic growth-oriented leader, Melvin brings to CORE and the industry a people-first approach with a deep understanding of client needs – the complexity of projects, time and cost constraints, need for efficiencies and regulatory changes in compliance.

David O’Neill
Associate Director – Structures

David has over two decades experience in structural engineering specialising in new build, adaptive reuse of existing buildings, heritage works and seismic upgrades. His career has spanned all major sectors in the UK and Australia servicing large Tier 1 engineering firms including Blyth and Blyth, London and Mott MacDonald Australia.

David has been pivotal to CORE’s expansion into new build design – helping to grow the design team and implementing stringent quality processes and procedures.

Ian Pomeroy
Associate Director - Facades

Ian’s impressive track record in adeptly managing CORE’s façade engineering team has seen him cement CORE’s industry leadership in remedial façade work and expand the team’s capability to façade design and construction for new greenfield sites.

Most recently, Ian’s team have successfully completed large works for Australia’s landmark cladding rectification programs including Cladding Safety Victoria and the City of Sydney’s work on Project Remediate, securing them an enviable position in the market.

Working in the construction industry poses a unique set of risks.

At CORE, we not only commit to getting the job done, but getting it done safely. This will always remain our top priority and is a principle that is strongly embedded within our systems and culture.

All members of our team receive regular training on worksite safety, approaching every project with unwavering focus and discipline to ensure they are taking care of themselves and those around them.

We are proudly certified in accordance with ISO 45001, the world’s first, work health and safety (WHS) standard.

We take our environmental responsibility seriously and are certified in the globally recognised ISO 14001 Environmental standard – our commitment to continuously improving CORE’s environmental impact and performance.

As a successful organisation, we see it as our duty to give back to the community.

For 5 years, we have been proud supporters of The Property Industry Foundation and its incredible efforts toward ending youth homelessness.

From fitness challenges, to sailing regattas and toy drives, the CORE team are always ready to roll up their sleeves and get involved for such a worthy cause.

To show our ongoing support, CORE has committed to donating $5 from every invoice generated so that we can help rebuild the lives of young people who do not have a safe and secure place to call home.
